Frequently Asked Questions
-
Do you charge a studio fee to glaze and fire the work?
No. All prices include the cost of materials and we fire everything in our electric kiln at home.
-
Is the paint safe for babies?
Yes, everything we use is non toxic and safe for babies and animals.
-
Are finished items food safe?
Yes, once glazed all items are food safe
-
How many items can I do in a session?
If you have booked ‘help with prints’ we can normally do 1-4 items for you without a problem. If it is not too busy and your baby is happy with the prints being taken then we have done many more. If you know you want to get more 6 items or more then we recommend you book two slots.
-
Can I place my pottery in the dishwasher and microwave?
Pottery is best hand-washed. The glaze is dishwasher safe but the earthenware pottery is more likely to break in the dishwasher because of the high heat and abrasive detergent.
Earthenware pottery is not ideal for microwave use because it can get very hot.
-
Will you help me with footprints and writing?
We will always help with footprints if you have booked ‘with help’. Normally we make sure everyone has their prints and then if there is time we help with writing.
However, we provide all you need to decorate and write yourself. Often we find parents get going and enjoy writing themselves. It is easy and we can advise.
-
How long will it take to fire my work
Normally between 7-10 days. We take your work home to our garden studio, hand dip your work in glaze and then the firing can take approx 24 hours. We will email you when it is ready. If you need it in 7 days or less then let us know and we will try our best.
-
Do you do handprints?
Handprints for small babies can be tricky because they scrunch their little hands up tightly. However, we have a few tricks and are happy to try. We have had some great results and some messy ones!
Handprints are great for older children.
-
How much does it cost?
We try to keep things simple by charging £24 per item.
-
Is there parking?
There is rarely parking at the venues we are hosted at. But we always have good transport links.
